Klahanie Research Ltd. seeks qualified archival researchers/writers to act as sub-contractors for periodic "as and when required" limited-term projects relating to Canadian National Historic Sites, Federal Heritage Building policies, and the Historic Initiatives program. The proposed work will take place in Ottawa, and will be undertaken between the fall of 2009 and June 2012, with the possibility of an extension for a further two years.
Qualifications:
- One or more university degrees in a relevant discipline, including Architecture, Architectural or Art History, Canadian History, Geography, Archaeology, Aboriginal History, English and/or Journalism (with emphasis on writing and editing), and Historic preservation or conservation.
- Have completed, at minimum, two relevant projects within the past five years.
- Knowledge and understanding of Heritage Conservation in Canada, including the Parks Canada mandate, mission, strategic directions, accountability structure, policies, procedures and objectives.
- Proficiency in both official languages.
The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated individual who works best with minimal supervision. Compensation commensurate with experience. Applicants are requested to submit an electronic CV with a brief one or two paragraph cover letter by 5pm on Tuesday, August 5th, 2009.
